How to get fiberglass to shine
I have several spots on my top side that are scratched slightly from my daughter using a scotch-brite pad on the fiberglass...I am wondering how you go about getting faded/scuffed glass back to a nice shine. I was going to try a rubbing compound. If this doesn't work whats next? Sanding? If so what steps should go thru. I don't want to make it worse....
Thanks BH |
Re: How to get fiberglass to shine
3000 grit wet sandpaper then hand glaze (swirl remover) then wax with Frenzy Wax

Re: How to get fiberglass to shine
Try HD compound first. If shine doesnt come up, Wet sand by hand with 1000 or 1200 grit, followed by HD compound with wheel at 2000 - 2500 rpms, followed by couple coats of wax, buff with wheel at 1500rpms

Re: How to get fiberglass to shine
1200 or 1000 grit paper will still leave scratches on the fiberglass unless you follow with a higher grit paper. Been there and have done that.
As Bruce stated above try a compound first such as 3M Imperial Microfinishing Compound liquid (purchase at auto paint store) before sanding. The microfinishing compound will remove light scratches, then follow with wax. |
