Hi Guys
I am upgrading my 454's to try to get close to the 540HP mark as quoted in the edelbrock dyno
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/7161pp.html.
The spec calls for 750 cfm carbs.
I have 600 holley's right now, so they have to go.
I would like you're advice on what you think I should buy the holley or the edelbrock?
Does one have a significantly better design over the other?
TIA
Steve

Not even close.....Go with Barry Grant...Check with RumRunner here he can let you know what carb to go with...I just installed a Sea Demon on my boat. Just got back from Cumberland and after 20hours of all types of running the thing is awesome. Do some checking around with people who have used BG carbs and they will second my suggestion....

NO EXCUSE to risk tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on a non-marine carb.....

You can go with 750 Speed Demon "Marine" Carburetors P/N 1402010EM, or if you don't want chokes you can use 750 Mighty Demon "Marine" carburetors P/N 5402010GM. The Mighty Demon carburetors will flow a little more air, and give you more room for other modifications in the future.

The bigger issue is that you actually believe that you'll get 540hp out of a 454 in a marine app.

I'm gonna take alook at those other carbs that were mentiond. I have seen those in the U.S. catalogues over here. But no one else ever mentions them!
I just need to get into the middle range for a carb rather than being on the top edge.
Thank you for your advice and help.

What I'm trying to say is that Edelbrock built that engine combo for the street. That is evidenced by the small carb and the peak hp rpm. A 454 built with that combination will be short lived as a marine engine.
