Lightbulb Replacing heads

Does anyone know what kind of compound is used on head bolts? I'm replacing the heads on my 454 magnum and someone told me that there is a special compound to use on the head bolts.

Just this minute got done installing a new head on the sb engine. I use permatex aviation sealer with good luck.

ARP makes a combination teflon sealer and torque lube that I have used for years. Great stuff and your torquing value will me more accurate and consistent.
