I want to convert to electronic ignition (sbc), and I've been looking at Pertronix, Delco EST, and DUI. All claim to be compatible with OMC shift assist. I just wonder what the differences, advantages/ disadvantages are.
Seems that DUI is a mechanical advance unit, Delco EST is electronically advanced by module, and not sure about Pertronix. I'm looking for about 32 deg total advance. Any opinions?

I spoke to Scott over there. I like the idea that they set up the curve for you. I've always had good results with distributors that have been custom curved. I also like the idea that if you puke a module, you can stick a standard GM replacement in, and salvage your weekend. I've been leaning towards the DUI system.

Over 12 years on my DUIs, never a problem. They may cost more initially, but then I added up the cost of a Tbolt sensor and a couple modules replaced on other boats. The DUI is well worth it.
