I ran Seastar on my outboards for years. However, Mcollinstn's Dead on!
Running that type of I/O you would want the Strength
of external. Look at the picture of the the XS Performance system. It attaches right at the outdrive. with twin cylinders. Now open your hatch and look at your system. Have someone shake the outdrive while your in there. Then make your decision.
Good Luck

Why couldn't you just buy the brackets and mount the sea star cylinder external?
Mine is manual hydraulic. No worry about pump or belt failure. It check valves both directions. It stays in whatever position you leave it. Rock steady.

You can mount Seastar or anybody else's cylinder externally.
What you run into, though, is that you need a cylinder with LOTS more travel for an external mount versus an internal cylinder. THEN you need a helm pump that is sized to work with the long travel cylinder so you don't have to spin the wheel six times to get it to turn. AND you gotta get cylinders that are made of materials to endure the severe environment on the outside versus the placid conditions inside.
There's a reason that external steering is costly.

I think they are just under $3000.00 for a full, to the helm, system.
Certainly the best bang for the buck available in steering systems.
I do know these are priced much lower than the others out there, and the XS Performance system is one of the cleanest looking & heavy duty systems available. You can call Brian or Allan anytime and they will give you the correct pricing.
