Mirage Plus/Bravo 1 to Hydromotive change
Yesterday went to swap out my mirage plus to a hydromotive prop. I had swapped out the mirage plus to a bravo 1 with no problem but when I put the hydromotive prop on the splines on the end of the prop shaft were about 1/8" to 1/4" past the back end of the prop. The thrust washer seems to be fine and fits perfectly. Do I need to use the old style mirage brass fitting on the end of the prop shaft to install these props?

Re: Mirage Plus/Bravo 1 to Hydromotive change
I found out at the Milwaukee races that Hydro props require a differnet brass fitting.
Very similar to Bravo, but just cut down real short. You will have to get one. :( I was told that you could possibly sue two thrust washer back to back but Iwould think this would be a little risky :( |
Re: Mirage Plus/Bravo 1 to Hydromotive change
I have two of the older style mercruiser parts to try. Hopefully that is it.

Re: Mirage Plus/Bravo 1 to Hydromotive change
No, this is a hydromotive specific part. If you had a way to accuratly cut it, the stock merc castle could be cut down to work.

Cord-
The merc castle looks like it would fit. How would it have to be cut down? Dave |
Re: Mirage Plus/Bravo 1 to Hydromotive change
Well, you said "older". I'm not familiar with any "older" style of castle nut. I only know the flo-torque style castles. The hydromotive castle is exactly like the current merc castle, but it has about a half inch of splines. If that description matches the "older" style of castle, then you are good to go.
