The blackhawk props were available in 3 pitches from merc. 27, 29, 31". This was the average of the two props. The front one is actually pitched more than advertised and the back one is less. The 29's are the most popular and thus are the lowest priced. I've seen them for around $800 a set. Don't forget you're buying two props, so that's a fair price. The higher you go in pitch, the more expensive they get. 31's start at around $1100 a set. The drives were available in 1:36 and 1.5 ratios. You proably could get one customized, I'm not sure. Do you see the problem? A 1.5 drive with 29" props will be too much for your current power. I'd guess that you'd be around 4500rpms.

I would also recommend checking on availability on parts and props. They can be hard to come by!

Props are getting a little more scarce. Most of the internal parts shouldn't be a problem because they use Bravo I and Bravo III gears, bearings, prophafts, etc.

You may be able to pull it because the Blackhawk's prop pitch is a little deceiving because the whole prop isn't in the water.

But as stated in an earlier thread your hull has to have natural bow lift to use the BH.

Julie, thanks for the tip, the props would be the main problem, the are hard to get.

Cord and blackhawk, the 29 would be a Little to big on the 1.50 would the 1.36 with 29 be OK? please advice.

No, the 1.36 would actually make things worse.

You would maybe get away with a 150 drive and 27 props but I doubt you would be able to pull that combo to the rev limiter in your hull with that power. I went form a 28 bravo to 31 black hawks and stayed just around 5200 rpm.

What is your hull and power? You may be able to find a 1.65 BH. I tried one and my mid-range was incredible!

Blackhawk,

I have a Baja H2X with a 454 magnum MPI 385 Horses i would like to buy the right one and not buy two sets of props :)

bubba, I don't think your hull will work. Baja's have a lot of hook in the hull which require a lot of positive trim to lift the bow. Blackhawk's can't do that. I'd guess the only way you could get it to work would be modifying the bottom of your boat.

You'd probably get better performance with a shortie.
