X dimension?

I finally remembered to measure the bottom of my boat (38 KV scarab with SSM #2) I measured 6 1/2 inches vertically between the bottom and the centerline of the prop shaft. The props are 15x23 3 blades. How does this translate into a supposed X dimension. Did I measure it wrong? How am I supposed to measure it?

Re: X dimension?

Some one please correct me if I'm wrong but, X-dimension is the vertical mesurment from the U-joint shaft to the bottom of the hull.

Re: X dimension?

You Are Correct Bottom To The Centerline Of The Shaft.

Yes, J-Bonz, That is "X" dimension. phuges is referring to running depth and that sounds a little deep to me. Were the lowers changed over from TRS units (which were shorter than the speedmasters) some time after the original factory set-up? --- JP

Re: X dimension?

What he said. The IIs are taller than a TRS. The shaft cenetrline should only be a couple inches below the bottom. I've run TRSs higher than that on a staggered 38.
Good news is that if you switch to TRS lowers, you'll probably go faster. Or raise the IIs a few inches and it should really fly.

Re: X dimension?

X dimension is measured at the transom from the keel to crankshaft centerline.
