high oil temperatures

I have just installed 2 new 540 cubic inch motors in my Formula F 311. I have installed new oil coolers by Hardin rated for 750 hp.After a good run my temp is 300 degrees. Any suggestions as to why and how can I bring it down . Thanks

Re: high oil temperatures

Make sure you are not running lean in the primary and/or secondaries. Make sure you are running synthetic oil during fact finding. Make sure you back off the sticks before exceeding 270F during fact finding. Just curious, are these automotive prepped rotating assemblies or marine? I've been battling oil temps for years and have noted a direct correlation between engine coolant temp and oil temp. If your water temps are now relatively high, at say 180, you could knock a good 20 to 30 degrees off your oil temp by running coolant cooler, say 130-140. Some don't like that idea. I don't like wiping bearings out by running excessive oil temps. Also, do a search on this topic, lots of knowledge here.

Welcome aboard!

300 is the high end of acceptable temps... what kind of pressure are you running at 300 degrees?

I have 2 540s built by DEERBERY Performance in Texas . 632 lift cams, gil offshore exhaust. Should be putting out abt 600 hp or so . I am going to the dyno next week . Also the port side of both oil pans spit oil at high rpms 9.1 compression . I am running a V6 module at 34 degrees total timing. When I put the boat in gear it idles at 200rpms . This is another problem . Electric fuel pumps. 7 PSI.
