I don't much care for the up and down surging from a supercharged engine and neither do I care for a lopey idling cam. I like a smooth idle that attracts very little attention, and that allows for easy shifting, and has good drivability for manuvering around boat traffic, the docks, water and wind currents, etc.

I'm not exactly sure if this is true or not, but I have heard that the Whipple supercharger "screw design" can be tuned to give a very smooth, non-suring idle if desired---smoother than a "paddle design" roots style charger. If I ever try a supercharger, I think I will most likely try the Whipple first.

My 950 CHIEF's don't surge at idle. Tommy said something about the air pressure on the topside of the blower vs the air pressure on the bottom side of the blower.

I just installed a superchiller and the surge worsened dramatically. I use the low water drive the pickup for the chiller, with a pressure relief for just in case. How would I stop even minimal flow at idle rater than another pressure releif.

hey guys... how about the cam selection, not one mention about vaccum signal from big duration cams, and yes this is still applicable with a blower...
many many variables, how low are you trying to idle said blower motor, what mods are done to carbs etc etc...
