Ford Vs Chevy
I almost hate asking this question.....I don't want this to turning into a pissing match. But I am looking at a Velocity w/twin FORD 602's. I see tons written
on BBC's but not much on BBF's, are there reasons other than the fact Merc
uses them and that there are twice a as much aftermarket products available
for BBC's. I know BBC's very well and feel like I am entering uncharted waters.
Are ther any reliability issues associated w/BBF's? This is the only thing that is
holding me back on this end of season super deal.
Thank you
Randy

cnc.
For what it is worth I have a friend with a 40 Velocity/Thoroughbred it has that same set up #3ssm runs 90mph all day. The thing flies. I am a BBC fan myself but his fords sound really good and he spinns them to 6000rpm.

Its possible, what props and drives is the former owner turning and at what rpm? Props are just about like little mini dyno's,owners of other near identical hulls should be able to tell you the kind of hp it takes to turn a given rpm and speed. I'm not a fan of the blue oval but built right they shouldn't be any less reliable,i'm sure your not the first propspective buyer leery of the power plants, maybe you can use it as a bargaining point,Smitty

Sounds like it. I rode on this thing a couple of weeks ago. He went to Mackinac with us. The boat is white with "excess energy" written on the side. I was in the harbor and we decided to go on a "POWER RUN" I must say the thing was impressive. We were doing 85 before I knew it. Had throttle to spare. Owner is a nice guy I think the boat is brokered right now out Midland, MI. Small world!

I've got a ford 460, stock low hours and have been beating the **** out of it for 2 years, I'm impressed!! I'm a Chevy fan all the way, but this 460 has got me convinced! I've talked to some people about strokers and upgrades. They all say do it, fords can handle it. Just finding the aftermarket parts is the trouble. I've been looking, and see no problem at upping the ponies for next year!: Just remember, friends don't let friends drive fords!:Unless its fast!!!!!!!

Right now I am suffering from water being sucked up my pipes at idle but my boat still runs triple digits at over 6200 rpm.
I believe a guy named Barry something built those engines. He also built identicle engines for Ross Perot in a 42 Fountain.
Dare to be different!

Fritz
His name is Barry Fritz, I think from Wisconsin or minnesota.
BTW Oil flow to valvetrain is completely controlled in the SVO block by the size restrictors you choose to use.
