Re: Hyd. Steering advice

I have a 30 Victory w/ twins and IMCO Hyd assist running off the Port pump. Who has advice for which company to go with to go full hyd/twin pump (I have the 2nd pump on the Star mtr already). Seems IMCO would be the logical choice since I already have their externals.

Do I need a "capalano" helm, I have a Hynautic helm that is pictured below. Is this safe? I am trying to rig the boat for safety, and also trying to eliminate all the unnessasary items in the system. I want to make it simple but safe.

Thanks

The capalano will do the job in my opinion, and you basically need 2 rams and the helm unit. Should probably use -8 hi-pressure hose, with chrome plated brass re-useable end's. I would still consider retro-fitting with full power. Just today i ran an 04' Gladiator that i just finished re-rigging, the p/s pump pulley was defective and let go. Then tried to finish our run a come in on manual steering , trust me not safe, acted like manual hydraulic, wich does not respond as fast as full hydraulic, no way , no how.
