Trolley to remove/refit B-1 drive

Anybody seen a deal on these things? I saw one at a boat shop, it lifted the drive to correct height and allowed one man install of drive. Between mine and my friends boats it would be a great tool to have.

regular old motor hoist works real well. I've got a custom 4 point strap that hangs a drive level. Just pull it forward or reverse and it holds it at the right height.

I run across motor hoists for around $75 every so often.

I built one. Not the prettiest thing but it works and only cost a few bucks. Do a search on "outdrive stand" and you will see some other options.

I used ideas from members of this board to create these projects. I took a $20 dollar 2 Ton Chinese jack and modified it with about $25 of steel and other materials. Also scabbed some wood together to make a stand to store the drives in.

Thanks Guys,

I have found a couple of others over the weekend.

http://www.kerrsmarine.com/html/sd3.html $775+ ship

http://www.bimsracingproducts.com/Outdrive%20Stands.htm $139.45 incl ship

this looks like the perfect one for the hobby guy. They say you can adjust height by raising/lowering trailer tongue. +made in USA

Mark,
I used to work at a boat shop and we had one of the tools you are reffering to the one made by kerrs is called the yard arm. it is the most annoying tool i have ever used and my coworker had the same opinion of it all it did was take up space in the corner. After you get the hang of putting a drive on by youself is not that difficult If you tell me what model drive you have i can run you through how to slam it on single handed.

Hillbilly

thanks for the info, I have installed and removed outdrive 6 times on my boat and 2x on my friends pachanga. Every time I do it I am afraid I will do my back again because of having to work under swim platform. I usualy have help but like to be able to jobs on my own if I want to.

I think I will get the bimsracing trolley. we pull all our outdrives at end of each year to lube and check alignment, at very least it will make good stand.
