Re: Whipple Questions
What do you guys think. I have a pair of 509's in a 30' Spectre and am thinking about adding the 3.3 carbed whipples. Right now I do not have a roller cam(Fairly large hydraulic cam). I have ported GM cast iron heads, 1050 dominators, speed pro pistons, crane roller-rockers, inconnel valves, 9:1Cr. Dynoed at 550hp at 5500.
I assume changing to a roller cam is probably a must? What cam would you recommend? Are the cast iron heads at 9:1cr ok with the whipple? |
Re: Whipple Questions
Swede,
You do not need a roller cam for a Whipple. Mine is on a stock motor with flat tappet cam. Call Whipple and ask for Dustin. He is the owner and will chat with you and tell you exactly what will work and what won't. |

Re: Whipple Questions
don't forget to talk with a few people who have had nothng but problems with them, then weed out owner error problems and system problems, I have seen long strings of posts on here with people complaining of their service, as well as people who are pleased, I know some people with them and some people who were happy to sell them and get them off the boat.

Re: Whipple Questions
What is the best Whipple for my HP500EFI engine? I currently have the 2.3(2.2?). Should I consider the 3.3 or stay where I am? Dustin told me the smaller one is perfect for me and that the 3.3 is better for modified engines. I believe Pfaff says the 3.3 is the way to go.
Opinions? |
Re: Whipple Questions
I would trust what Dustin tells you. After all, he is the owner of the company. What would he gain by giving you wrong info???

Re: Whipple Questions
It is correct to use the 2.3 on a stock 502. If your engine is modified and breathes better on it's own, then you can use and need the larger capacity blower. this is better than spinning the small one faster. All positive displacement blowers are like this including Roots.

Re: Whipple Questions
Craig,
If you want to go faster, take the patio furniture, the dinghy, the carport and the pool table off your boat! |
