Re: OMG!! a ski boat passed me at 70mph
Spoke to my buddies father ( my buddy is in the clink) and he kinda new some things about the mods on his Tige.... he wasnt so specific due to his basic knowledge.... They moved back the LT1 motor ( which had some serious mods to it )and it had a modified trimmable pulse drive. They GPS'd it at 69.2 mph. It wasnt much good for skiing and it was broke constantly. It had straight thru hull exhaust. Thats what he knew and I am not sure what else was done. The pulse drive wigged me out because it was almost under the boat ... or at least I thought it was. He said they have since scrapped that project and they are going to modify a Malibu when junior gets out.....they want to rig up an Arneson with a 496 somehow... he promised me pics in the Spring.

70 is really pushing it ,even with the vette engine, most are running a 14 x18 pitch four blade props and most of the inboards run in the 50's unless they have had some serious mods,it 's pretty hard on the bottom of your feet to barefoot at 70mph. I, agree the Malibu is probablly the most popular ski boat at least in Texass.

Re: OMG!! a ski boat passed me at 70mph
A couple of years ago I was cruising along at about 60mph in calm water and had one of those high deck fishing boats with one of those BIG outboards walk past me. So, I sped up along side of him and clocked him on the GPS at about 69mph. I have always known they were fast boats with that set-up, but I guess I had to experience it for myself. I was really impressed with how fast it was.

Not to change the subject but watch out for tri-toons with big power. Nothing like a pontoon boat giving you a run for the money.
