Re: what are the formulas update their hull

You're nuts. There's nothing wrong with Formula's hull from a "need to" standpoint. If they wish to compete on speed with Fountain, then they need to lighten a bunch and throw out a bunch of amenities and, sure, change their hull to something like - well, more like a Fountain.

But I don't think Formula wants to get into the heavily notched transoms and the harder entry of the really fast hulls.

If you had a bad ride in a Formula, you need to go out with ANYBODY who knows how to drive one...

Re: what are the formulas update their hull

Formula makes one of the best built boats in the industry. They don't want to be the fastest, but they make one of the most comfortable boats with plush amenities.

What kind of update?

Cork?
Braided hole hair?
Custom painted dingleberries?
Lipstick?

I don't get it.

I like what they got now....just maybe a little graphics tweakin and some monsters on the dash.
And maybe bring back the 419 in a stagger option.

Yeah formulas are great boats!!

Very good ride and everything. I agree with basically everyone above.

But I do agree that they should change the graphics to something that appeals more to the eye... They should also include some sweet dash graphics, but who knows. You can only wait and see.

As an owner of a '99 271 Fastech, I would not change a thing. If you do not like the graphics, get it white and put your own on (right Cspray). Same could be done with the dash.

I have tailored mine to my needs over the years, but all the changes were something that made the boat fit my specific boating requirements better, not something that any boat builder could do. Heck, most of the things I did not think of until I had it a several summers.

Yeah I realize that, but some things could be changed and be more graphicy <--if thats even a word. However, everyone has there own opinions, and I am not complaining about the graphics, I just think they should change them around a little.

When people ask about changes in a hull they are talking about paint?

Re: what are the formulas update their hull

Teague/Tomlinson said it best when they recently tested a '05 382 with 575Sci;

"What we've always liked about the 382 is that the boat represents a complete package, perhaps the most complete package of its kind. It's not a purpose-built go-fast boat that does one thing - go fast - well. But it is a well-built boat that offers strong performance and features just about everyone can appreciate."

"Top speed for the 38 footer was 81.1 with the engines turning 5300 rpm. Sure, there are like-size boats that will go faster on the same power, but few, if any, weigh in at 10,450 pounds."

That being said, I have an '89 F311 that I love. True enough, it's not as fast as some of my buddies with equal or less power, but they would really rather not follow me into the soup when a squall blows up. Awesome all-around boat.

I'm not all that impressed with the recent graphics either, but as was stated earlier, if you want something different, buy it white and have some custom paint or vinyl applied.

Re: what are the formulas update their hull

jeesh, Afton.

Learn to use some punctuation.
This isn't a teenybopper chat room.

You say that Formula needs to keep the same ride comfort, but go as fast as a similarly "sized" Fountain?

You just asked them to remove 750 pounds from the boat and to add a "hard riding" delta vee pad to the boat. Now it doesn't ride as well.

Or you asked them to lighten the boat by 1500 pounds by using extremely expensive hull materials.

Option one lost ride comfort.
Option two costs $35000 more.

I bet Formula would rather somebody with those requirements purchase a different boat.

Re: what are the formulas update their hull

I have gotten to like Formulas a lot. I have no issues with their hulls. I like creature comforts. What would I like to see them consider?

-Making the Silent Thunder exhaust an option or allow it to be deleted and have thru hull exhaust and an aluminum swim platform option.

-Custom paint schemes

-Allow for more power options:

-Staggered engines
-Why not include Merc's T-600's or 1075's?
-Custom power ..Sterling..Pfaff...Illmor etc.
-Arnesons/Teague Platinums/Imco's/#6's

-Bring back a stepped version of the 42'er and add a 47'er as well.

They make one of the best production boats out there...how about adding some customization??

I think they are missing a huge part of the offshore market. Hey it's their call...

LMAO.....I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me of a tick (little bugs). They can breathe through their a** and don't have to come up for air.
Periods, commas, and spaces are the best!
