I put a regular performer on my Nova. My friend put the RPMs on his Donzi.
If I don't have a major fiberglass crisis I was gonna go through the blocks and maybe do intakes. I need exhaust manifold gaskets on both blocks. I thought I would do exhaust manifolds too. Not gonna cam them or anything though.
Maybe upgrade ignition systems. Maybe.

No wonder you can go faster than me. I'm running stock 260s.

the air gaps have a cooler denser air charge. the manifold has an air gap under the plenum to help it keep cool and we all know thats better for preformance. my mirage had that an the 270H cam an it ran like a scalded dog. i have the 260's in the scorp but am seriously thinking of switching this spring to the 270's. if you are gonna have the tops off your motors how bout droping in a pair of 260 cams,if i upgrade i think i know where you can get some cheap :D

The reason I didn't go to standard Vortec was because it's damn near impossible to find a cast iron manifold for them, and I run in salt. Also the issue with the max lift, though the one I chose would have been at the upper limit of it without machining.

here ya go Cuda genuine GM cast iron vortech intake its a Q jet manifold though. but its a start :D

Thanks.
Makes sense. That's what I was picturing, just haven't seen one. I have tons of overhead space, so I could do a taller intake. I'm assuming that it's taller. The extent of motor work is gonna be based on the assesment of the hull.

so, if I am starting with 270 hp,add the g.m. vortech heads,270 cam,air gap manifold, stock carb.what would you estimate the horsepower at? is this putting the alpha at serious risk? also what ign.system that seems to hold up?msd?

i would stick with the stock T-bolt. its a great ingition. i would guess HP would be in the 350-375 range give or take a few. the heads are whats gonna pull that package together. your Alpha should be fine just use your head when throttling it. i beat the snot out of mine in a 6000+ pound boat and they do fine as long as im not hit'n chit
