Re: TRS - how to tell the difference between Merc and BW trannies?
The really early ones that had electric solenoids moving the shift lever on the transmissions had the delay you are probably aware of, but it wasn't the tranny's fault.
God, am I old! They haven't used that system decades! |

[QUOTE=Payton]I am suprised that no one ever came up with a fix for that pump gear problem.
Marc at BAM has a mod for the keyway that is supposed to reduce failure. |
Re: TRS - how to tell the difference between Merc and BW trannies?
Newer style Merc pump has larger keyway, it will adapt to both style input shafts by using the proper key.Smaller keyway pumps were more likely to crack, newer style ones are much better. These newer pumps have been out for a long time now.
