Pressure check Gill exhaust mani's
#3
Most of the time they will leak externally around the core plug areas it will first appear as a blister in the paint. They can be repaired but it's not a fun job. If you find that yours are leaking I might be able to help I have 2 extra sets if your interested.

Most importantly you need to check your tailpipes, they are prone to cracks inside around the welds. Sometimes you can't tell they are leaking or have a crack until you hit it with a torch to expand the stainless.

Muff, thats exactly whats happening with mine. I suspect a leak after tearing down motor and found signs of water in one cylinder. Ring was frozen to piston. I am building completely new so i am not concerned with the internals, but i was hoping to save some money and reuse my old exhaust. Do pressure checks always give accurate results? Are your exhaust new? I may be interested.

brought them to a radiater shop today and they pressure checked with air and dropped them in a tub of water. They not only bubbled through the freeze out plugs, but we found a nice crack on the inside. Guess i wil be shopping for 2 sets of CMI's. Are my Gills worth any $$ in their current form?
