Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
I would send Mike an email. He was able to help me with some questions I had about my stinger.

Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
I just looked at mine and there is a little just behind each step but the last four feet of each step seem pretty strait. I was told it had been blueprinted and corners sharpened. Either way it runs so well I'm not going to touch her. Good luck and if you want more info email ([email protected]). Dueclaws may chime in with some additional info as well. :drink:

Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
Jeffrey-
There was some hook in the 1985 hull that Greencard has and I spent considerable time getting it straighter and the edges sharper. You should concentrate on the last 4 or 5' area before the transom. At speed, the boat should run on the last part of the second step and the part of the last step at the transom. Due |
Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
Thanks for the info. The boat is the old Tropic Heat d class boat from the early 90s re rigged as a pleasure boat with 509 blower motors and 700 hp per side, and it weighs 10,600# full of fuel. it will run 109 on GPS, does not seem to care if it is empty or full, spinning 16.5" X 33" 4 blade rolla props to about 5900. The C.G. is in the center of the forward step (about 8' forward of the stern) The boat loves snotty white capped go run and hide water and runs FLAT. The boat has approximately 3/16" of hook from the front to the rear of both steps? It was sitting on an under rated Triad trailer when i brought it back from south Florida and it had weird bunks. The boat develops a major hop (Linder lope???) from about 90 up and i am unable to drive through it. Other than that, it is a fantastic boat. My wife and kids love it. It is as solid as a rock and very stable to run. I have to take people for rides to show them that you can cruise at 80 and not get beat up. I am a nut for speed and do air it out by myself with a jacket and a kill switch. My friends are tired of me telling them that it is not how fast you go but how you go fast. Any help or direction you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
Are your props turning in or out?
|
Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
What kind of outdrives do you run?
|
Re: CHRIS CAT Knowledge ?
The props are turning in on Arneson ASD 8 drives. I tried them turning out way way back in the beginning (500 horse 502s) and the boat seemed to be stuck to the water. If i had read the thread on great moments in cat history and the explanation from T2x they would probably still be turning out.
