Only way you'll go faster at the same Rpm is turn a bigger pitched prop and/or reduce slip. Doesn't matter if you have a 1000SC. 3500 rpm with a 30 bravo will be 60 mph.

Got ya... I was thinking about it too hard...

What about the Whipple idea with the bravo 30's re-worked?

I have a 2002 28 Daytona with 496 mags, I have tested regular and labbed bravo's, Hydromotive 4 and 5 blades, and the new Mercury Maximus. I ended up buying a set of 29" P5x's and I am happy with them. They all gave about the same top end (88mph) but the P5x's had the best midrange and holeshot. The Maximus actually had the best holeshot and midrange but the boat would only go 82mph. I have had a best top end of 90.7mph but that was on a cold day with 15 gallons in each tank and just me in the boat. The boat will do 87-88 consistently. I know another guy with a 2003 28 Daytona and 496 Mag HO's and extension boxes, he was running 32 labs and getting 92-93 out of the boat. I personally have found no difference with lab props all they do is slip more and you get more rpm but no more speed. I have a ton of information send me a message and I'll fill you in.

I believe if you plan on leaving the 496 HO's in your boat you should be running a 1.5 gear ratio for sure. Yes if you plan on going to bigger power then that will be to much. Your prop testing will show more results and you will get more stern lift naturally with a bigger wheel.

Paul- I tried to pm you, but it wouldn't go through. I have a 2001 Daytona with 496 HO's, so I would definitely like to hear more details on your prop testing experiences. ~Bravos vs. p5x's~ My goal is to increase mid-range, then hole shot and if I pick up top end that would be the icing on the cake. Matt at Throttle Up emailed me a picture of your 90.7 mph gps and said you were very happy with the results of the p5x's. He also said that you gained 7 mph at 3500 rpm. If this is true, that's awesome. I'd like to hear more...

I traded in a 30 Spectre last fall which I had just purchased some 29 P5X's. I paid a little over 2K with the shipping. About ten hours on them. If anyone can use them let me know. Thanks. P.S. They were awesome on my setup= 30 Spectre with 496 HO's with sportmaster XR's.

Todd,

I got a message from you today but I could not reply to it something wrong with your email, anyway call me 305-865-5255.

Switching to a 1.5 gear ratio will do nothing other than make you have to go out and purchase 34" props.

I'd be interested if I knew how to reach you... How about a phone number? Also, I sent you a pm and an email.
