I have a Chevy 454/502HO high rise dual plane aluminum intake never used.
It came off of a 425HP/454HO crate engine that had a blower bolted on to it.
$50 it's yours...

Edelbrock RPM Air Gap.......great intake.......

altho that $50 intake would be an excellent choice performance AND budget-wise..... Prob would see more than 10hp difference between it, and the Edelbrock.

For the rest of you the compression is a 8.8:1 but will come out to almost 9:1 when the build is over. I would love to give you the cam specs but it is a custom grind retro fit hydraulic roller cam from the engine builder. All I can tell you is that the cam is mild enough that I will have no reversion problems with my captains call.

The builder estimates the power will be 450-480 hp when all is said and done. He is recommending a merc intake but I wanted an idea if I could do a little better with an aftermarket part.
I've seen good results with the Merc Daul Plane Intake Manifold with a spacer. With the Cubic inches you are running and the RPM range you've indicated I really don't feel you need a single plane intake. Also, the dual plane intake builds a little more torque down low where you need it. In some cases, I've even seen some HP 500 motors make more power with the dual plane. A good friend is running the merc dual plane on his 540's and the motor makes lots of torque and you don't need to rev the piss out of it, the dyno numbers proved it.

Merc Manifold also has brass inserts for corrosion.

Just out of curiosity. What if you ran the single plane with oval ports into the rectangle heads? Would you be able to get better velocity with the initial volume of the oval port intake?
not an expert at any of this intake-head "VOODOO-black magic" just curious
