Default Budget Boat 330

Hey All
I Am Looking For A Cheap Way To Get My Boat Back Together.
I Have A 86 Baja 25 330 Trs.
Stringers Rotted Now New.
While It Was Out I Figured I Would Look In To The Trans.
Why It Slips On Hard Take Off.
It Turns Out I Get A New Stronger Trans Also. Hipo Done Move Motor 15/16.
Now Before I Put The Motor Back In I Figured I Would Put Another Cam In,,hu.
The Motor Was Gone Through Two Seasons Ago.
New Kieth Black Pistons ,new Rod Bolts , Head Work Ported (one Head Cracked Due To Overheating)
As I Was Putting My Cam In I Saw I Had To Pull The Heads For Seals Thats When I Saw Mixed Heads, The Machine Shop Guy Screwed Me.
So, Now I Need New Heads I Saw Some Merlin 269cc Ovals
The Cam I Have Is I- 544 E- 547 Duration .050 I -226 E -236
Apparently I Have 9.0:1 Compression With 119 Cc Heads. (pistons Have .103 Dome )
No Looking For Heads Any Suggestions?
I Would Like To Go Faster As So Would Everyone Else.

Cheap and boating should not be mentioned in the same sentence.

I Know Boating Isn't Cheap.
But I Would Like To Still Have Enough Money To Enjoy The Boat When I Am Done With It.
I Don't Want To Make The Mistake Of Spending Money On The Wrong Parts.

Port the heads if you get new 269s because they can use a little clean up. raise the compression to 9.5 to 1.You can put a little bigger cam in it.This could give you 50 or better horsepower.

What about the Edelbrock heads?
I talked with somebody and they said that the geometry was poor and they don't flow that well.
Also the oval port only has 110 cc that would bump the compression to far i think.

Should i stick with a cast head or aluminum?

Will the cast hold up longer than aluminum?

Cast heads will be just fine.Especially if your on a budget. You can use a thicker head gasket if needed with a 110 chamber

Be careful how much you invest in an old Baja, they're'e not the most marketable when you want to sell it. good luck
