Question Trim Tab Mounting

I am trying to find the corrrect mounting distance up from the bottom of the boat to the bottom of the trim tab itself. The tabs that I am inquiring about are Kiekafer k Planes. I do not know the part number but they are about 22 inches long. Any assistance with this info would certainly be appreciated.

Aljolyn, If you find the mounting instructions I would certainly appreciate a copy of them.

Found the instructions. There basically a template with hole sizes, pretty big, no way I can scan them. If you let me know what info you need I'll get back to you.

You might want to ask the manufacutrer of your boat. I'm noticing more boats with the tabs mounted parallel with the ground rather than parallel with the 'V' of the hull. I'm not sure what the reason is.

I would like to hear about that. I have been curious of the advantages.

I saw a vee with the tabs mounted parallel with the ground and close to the drive. He said his boat was very sensitive to tab movement. His reason was, as the water comes out of the transom it is following the vee. when you activate the tab the entire surface of the tab comes in contact with the water. When the tabs are mounted horizontal the outer edge of the tab contacts the water first making slow response. The more you lower the tab the more surface contact, speeding the response.
