So by moving the engines forward 18" (just a guess)... how does that effect speed, etc? Is this a negative or a positive?

Also, I recently bought a 2003 496mag with 2003 Bravo 2 and 2003 transom.... I will probably horsetrade everything for a twin drive set up... if anyone is interested.

Thanks again for all of the help!

You will have to glass up the transom and move everything inside forward and up. If you have the 454 mag set up with a Alpha then you more then likely I would guess have 330hp motors not 365's. They did that for a few years for some odd reason. Personally I would just get a bravo and be done with it. No glass work, it just bolts right up to the old set up with the addition of two holes, and if the alpha lasted all this time then you should be fine with the Bravo's. I guess you have to weigh all the prusses and minus's but I am guessing that it will cost a LOT more then you think to do all that.

Jon - great comments! I agree with you... bravo's would probably be the easiest way to get all of this done. I was going to do that at first and still might. Only thing is... I am probably going to sell my old 87 454mag block (need rebuild anyway) and build a set of HP500's or 502EFI motors... so I am going to be looking at 500hp each no mater which way I go... will a bravo 1 handle this type of power?
