If they are too big for you then they are for me also....your Sterlings would make more heat than my baby motors, but thanks anyway.

When you get the caps soldered back on there is a risk that some of the solder around the tubes inside may move, so it is important to pressure test the cooler.
This is how I tested a freinds oil cooler. remove from boat if you can. install 100 psi guage in one oil port. install valve and air line fitting in other oil port. using air line, pressurize oil side of cooler to 90 psi and close valve. if pressure still holding after 1 hour you are probably ok. if losing pressure check fittings with soapy water for bubbles. cover water inlet and outlet with clingfilm and wrap with tape, if they balloon up, cooler has had it. I did the same thing about 6-7 years ago, soldered it back together, and pressure tested. I am still using the same cooling with no problems. It happens to the best of um'. |
