I did a BAD thing!

Well with all that was going on this fall with my Fathers health I think i made a costly mistake. I was out in the barn both my egines are on stands waiting for rebuilds. When I pulled them I pulled the block plugs and the manifold hoses off and drained the motors what I thought was complete....well I left the rear hose on the oil coolers.....the water pused the back caps right off slick as a whistel. Can they be put back together or are they shot? They dont look like they were braised maybe just pressed together?????anyone?

From: Omaha, Nebraska. Boat on the Mighty Mo! Longest river in the USA!
Well I can go a step further. I did the same thing, then replaced the cooler and reversed the oil lines
20 hours later the knock in the engine started

Dyno,
I did the same thing one year... I just soldered it back on.. but you can take it to a local radiator shop and have them solder and psi test it.. I am sure they could handle it. I would think 40psi on the water side and 90psi on the oil side would tell you if it is still good. I later took the steering part off and soldered the cap from the cooler on to the small section (two section cooler) and replaced the big part with a bigger part and kept the small part for the steering.. still using it today!
Hope that helps

dyno,
What do your coolers look like? I have some HP500 oil/powersteering coolers that mount to the rear bellhousing with intake on the bottom starboard/outlet on top port I'm taking off my motors. Let me know if you need these.

I believe I paid around $400 each a few years ago. I have no thermostatic controls and Sterling thinks they are too big ... I was probably running too cold. I want to make sure they will work for you and if so, I will give you a really good deal, my friend. CAll me @ 419-882-1680 or I will try you later after I get up this afternoon. Night shift sucks!
