Looking to upgrade my cam in a pair of 1998 500 bulldogs(540ci). I want to retain my stock heads, but change over to a hydrolic roller cam vs hydrolic flat tappet cam that is currently in the motors. I would like a cam that has a little better "thump sound" than stock, but would like to increase my power by 50-75 hp. I would like to have my power band from 2400-6000 rpm, but then install a soft touch and chip it to 5800rpm. I am not sure of the power band with the stock cam is, but the motors have alot of pull from the 3000-5200 range.I love the power of the motors, but just want alittle more. I still want to be able to have good idle and docking control and not have to be tuning the motors every time I take the boat out. Any info would be great. Current Cam specs per Merc are,
