Why not talk to Weismann while you're at it?

Crash boxes? How fun! Especially docking in a breeze.

Why not go for the trifecta- Crash boxes/Arnesons/Wide tunnel cat

I was Referring to shiftable crash boxes, Which as stated earlier can be set up with Latham controls to shift exactly like a transmission, no switches.I am hoping for the best with trannies but I don't think and tranny will hold up to 1200hp and the TQ asociated with it, or at least I haven't seen anyone do it yet.
The manufacture of the shiftable crashboxes is SCS Gear, 419-483-7278.

You might want to call Rod Tschiggfrie for a shiftable crash box system that works. He owns Sorcercer

He was the first to develop one an it works really well.

563-590-7223

There is a push button on the shifters but that is not a negative. It works and that is a positive.

I was told you had to shut the engine off than shift from forward or reverse
and hope the engine refires and hope you don't hit anything (docking)?
Thanks RAP

I've used the system that Tschiggfrie has. Simply click the switch on the shifter and shift. No waiting no problems. Release switch and the boat goes in the direction the shifter is in.

No shutting down and restarting.

The ones that SCS builds use an air actuated clutch. There have been many used it Outerlimits and Skaters. I believe Speed Racer also used this one also. They put a push button is Speed Racer, But if you use the Latham controls you do nothing but shift JUST like your tansmissions, no buttons or switches, no killing the motors. Actually when you go into Neutral with this system you are engaging the Clutch so you can go right into gear with and problems and the clutch automatically realeases.

That's the system, minus the micro switches, that Tschiggfrie developed.

SCS was using a centrifugal clutch that would disengage when the rpms fell to idle speeds.

Sage aparently copied Tschiggfrie.

Interesting, I am planning on going with crash boxes because I trashede the trannies Huber (1200's) in last two races. Shiftable crash boxes sure sound like transmissions to me....what is the benefit????
