Anyone put insulation in their engine compartment ?
Recently saw a application using Dynamat to insulate for sound and heat and was thinking of using it.
And yes there are times when you want things quiet !

Soundown makes ALL SORTS of sound killer stuff.
I used some stuff that a Peterbilt engineer hooked me up with. Doe s a good job and isn't heavy like the usual vinyl and lead backed stuff.
I've still got the box in one of my storage units (with other sunk in it now) so I'll try to remember to get the name next time I'm over.

I went to the Soundown website. This insulation technology is filled with all sorts of data and most of it baffles ( play on words) me.
The bulkhead between the engines and deck has the foil over foam now and it is begining to crumble. I'm looking for something other than foam this time around.

I used the Soundown lead/foam insulating in the engineroom on the Magnum .. Installed it on the engine hatch and the fwd bulkhead. As this was a first time resto/ownership I did'nt have a baseline to work with but I can confirm that at all the speeds that it matters (especially at idle) the cockpit is nice and quiet ..Can talk at normal voice level up to 3000 rpm or so.. and that's with a 502 and thru hull.
Not hard to install yourself either ... I just hate the added weight of the lead liner in the foam..
