600 has potential for 750 with higher boost levels although the factory PCM limits boost so changing a pulley will do nothing. Don't worry, I'm working on that! Already have pulleys since, umm, since thats our supercharger.

Supercharged 525HP EFI = 775-800HP @ 5600rpm. Kit approx. $10,000 before installation, Roughly $12,500 after installation, prop, gauges, etc.

Thanks,
Dustin
Dustin does the 600 have a innercooler under the blower like yours and or can one be put in it ?

Dustin have you dynoed or know someone that has dynoes a 600 ?

Thanks

Rob

The merc 600s arent much faster than the 525s right now.The engines can make around 750 with a program change.Mercury is waiting to release their new drive that is rated for more power. When this drive is released, they will turn up the 600s to make more steam.

There were lots of 600SCi/Bravo XR packages in new boats at the Miami show. This picture from the brochure shows how the compressed air enters the intake manifold. Above the cupronickel intercooler core, you can see the slotted plate that forces some of the air to go to the back of the manifold. The engine is port injected and the computer has individual cylinder control of fuel and spark. According to the brochure, the boost bypass valve at the back "actively manages torque", meaning that boost at low RPM is limited to save the drive. It seems like a lot of expensive Merc technology to make only 600 HP, but this self-imposed limit is directly related to the torque capacity of the Bravo XR drive, and the cooling capacity of the closed cooling system. When you buy 850 HP from Merc it comes with a #6 drive and direct cooling.

To get back to the original question, I expect to see a lot of the aftermarket tuners bringing out packages that will take this engine to 600 naturally aspirated. So you could just go with the 525EFI. If you supercharge this engine you will make 800+ HP and you will be talking to drive specialists like Max Machine Works, IMCO etc.

You can read about the Rtech system for the 500EFI on another thread. We are putting this same system on a 525EFI in the near future. Since the 525EFI flows better than the 500EFI to begin with, this combination will make even more HP. On the 525EFI we need to install a larger closed cooling tank in a different location so that the Vortech blower will fit. This adds to the cost of the kit, but it is a good investment since the larger cooling capacity is a bonus at this HP level.

Tom Cat, So You Are Saying That The 525 Is A Better Value For The Money. And The 600 Is Not Worth The 15k Difference ??? Thanks Gary
