He's actually left some peak HP on the table in the name of curve, and drivability. If this thread is for the sake of discussion and possibly better understanding what it takes to set up a marine motor with a nice combination of HP, torque and RPM then I"m all for it.

But if it's the "great marine motor build off", it's unfair.

Engine builders have a numerous constraints imposed by customers. Some customers have an idea of what they think they want and isnsit on parts that may not be the engine builders choice. Sometimes, used or exsisting parts a customer has may come into play. And then there's financial constraints.
