I agree with the concept of your statement. I am a firm believer in sacrificing some top end HP for good throttle response, and good drivability especially in a marine engine.

But if it's the "great marine motor build off", it's unfair.

Engine builders have a numerous constraints imposed by customers. Some customers have an idea of what they think they want and isnsit on parts that may not be the engine builders choice. Sometimes, used or exsisting parts a customer has may come into play. And then there's financial constraints.
I am with you on your post Fred. There are or can be a ton of variables, but personal preference, and especially how much money a person has to spend on an engine project will most certainly dictate the outcome of performance, and reliability of an engine building project for sure.

Nice.

I guess if I had a winning combo. I would be reluctant
to give it away also. That exsplains why Too Old

BTW why will your baot actually have them motors in it? what is the first poker run you plan to attend this year? your ride is looking sweeter all the time. ratman
Camshafts determine alot of power in a blower motor and where its made.

Truthfully, Does it matter what HP Too Olds motors make? They are the worlds most fuel efficient motors. They will not burn one gallon of gas between them this year!!! LOL

Remember, I'm NOT an engine builder. That's why I use Mark Renda and let him do his thing.
Well from what I see in those dyno sheets his "thing"
is working!

I like to know what combos work.

I am considering the profilers for my next rebuilds.

I try to do as much as I can myself. Its the only way I can afford this sport.
