Is their a difference between a mercruiser and a stock Gm power steering pump they look the same but are the internals the same. Thanks Jeff

I put a stock GM on my boat and it works fine except the paint is not for a salt water environment. But the price difference is significant and I can always repaint it.

I snapped the stud off one of my 'blue' pumps a couple of years ago. I showed it to a couple people in the automotive business that really know their stuff. Neither batted an eye- they said it was a GM pump. Fortunately for me, the stud I broke was the screw-in type. If anyone wanted to do a search here, I believe there was a thread on these pumps a year or so ago with a number of alternatives on rebuilding the guts of these pumps. Pretty straight forward as I recall. For what it's worth...
