It will be interesting to see if Shane backs up one of his SBI brothers or throws them under the bus. After all the trips the Jersey Boys have made to FL. to support the SBI cause and help with there boat count to only be let down by the same people they supported. Now that would be a real SLAP in the face to Smitty. I can see it now, Smitty puts on a race in Point with the biggest purse in history for one class in Point. And who shows to race? The only guys with any balls, the OSS teams! . Shane was the first to comitt and the first to quit. At least I have respect for Cory I heard he was going to make the challane.

I dont think that's the case at all. He has a valid point. Smitty and Augie have strongly supported SBI/ APBA this year as I have in the previous years. They traveled great distances all year long. Now, they have been handed the ball "OPA" and decided to run with it. The least they could ask, is to have some support for at least one of their events. Just To show some return loyalty. Just remember... Smitty and Augie have always been there whenever anyone needed a helping hand.

It would be a nice gesture if alot of you guys were up here in August.

The Jersey Boys have greatly helped the boat count in the past years. I think its time for a little payback.

By the way..Drysump. If you are going to engage in controversial threads, its only fair to ask you to identify yourself.

No disrespect intended...just a request

thanks

Shane,
How long were the first two races in KW last year? You guys have a strong boat, nobody else is complaining about the distance. If you don't want to come,so be it,but please don't blame it on the miles. The boat that is faster the first 4 or 5 laps is going to be the winner if more laps are ran,its just going to win by more distance.Come and try to shut up Randy.

Dry sump,
please tell us who you are,so we can further understand your post.

Shane,
I agree with your travel expenses,I thought you were crazy when you said you were coming, but now that you and Randy have talked it up,you have to come to try and shut him up.Again,I just want to race, thats all,and maybe this event will grow that next year all the classes would have a 10000.00 purse.Talk to Smitty,I am sure there is something we all can do to satisfy everyone.Cory and Rich are coming,I don't want them to be homesick without you.Seriously, call Smitty anything we can do to help you make the race,we will try to do.

Bruce, valid point. I am glad someone noticed I am not directing this at Shane, If he wants to come I am sure he will have a blast. But there are a lot of other boats that should show us a little pay back. I will be visiting them all in Sarasota dont worry. As for the SVL Challenge, Guys we have an event planned here the likes of which you have never seen. More time has gone into planning this event than you could ever imagine. Shane I'll see you in a few days, we'll work something out. Smitty

Randy, thanks for the support. You know we won't allow anyone to throw us under a bus, Bruce is The Sgt. At Arms so I'm not worried! Bruce, beautifully written and you have a GREAT POINT. "WE" have all driven many miles to play. All we ask is it's time to PLAY in The Jersey Boyz Backyard, please come support us! Smitty, The Twisted Sisters, NJ Offshore and Ron P. have broke their a$$ off for this event, wait till you all see what Mama and My Toni Bi$ch (The Twisted Sisters) have in store and the vendors they have coming. It's gonna be all fun till the green flag is raised. Oh, and all Smitty wants me to do is point my fingers. Must be that ITALIAN THING.

Shane, Smitty and I will talk to you in Sarasota. Dry Sump, it takes a load of $$$ to put on a race plus the Blessings from, The Towns, The Police, The Mayors, The Marine Police, The Coast Guard, The Commercial Fishing Boats, The Fuc$ing fish and so on. We take out permits, pay for them then hope the Coast Guard and Marine Ploice Approve which We now have to pay the NJ State Police for every hour they are on the water plus travel time. Now, we're gonna try to STRETCH the window as much as we can for the race. Everything will work out as long as all the Bull $hit stops. Come out and race or don't...It's quite simple...$10,000.00 is $10,000.00 no matter how you look at it. Hell, we run to Florida for 1000.00. Come SUPPORT THE BOYZ.

I guess they keep us safe, I mean they do their best to keep other boaters off the course and they do aid if someone flips or breaks down so they are worth it, but to answer your question...this will be the first time in many years that we have to pay.

In several of the areas we have put on races the local Police, Firefighters, and medics all have to be paid. For some it is their job, for others they are covered under their own liability and medical insurance, and for some, that is just the way it is. In other areas, they all come out as volunteers, or the community (through your taxes) pays them. Sometimes it is a mix of both. It just depends on the area and sometimes local ordinances or the organizations (police, fire, medic, etc) insurance policies that dictate it. It can be a financial burden to the race producer, but they do keep it safe out there.
We (the SCORE Team) don't get paid, and we try to staff our boats with volunteers, but sometimes it just isn't possible.

It's the price of safe racing (kind of an oxymoron).
