How bout those SS boats ?

Lets get a thread started for the egg beaters. The more i run my new machine, the more respect i gather for all the racers especially the O/B cats.

Yes we are pretty terrific. I was just trying to explain that to the wife. She's not so sure. Hanna and Beckley, now they are really something. SQ

I just heard this morning that they are still behind, I'm not sure if the are going to make it or not. You never know who may or may not show up but I would think 10 boats is gonna happen. Did you find a ride yet or are you still on the beach?

Still trying to swim across the Start/Finish line unfortunately.

Either way, I love Sarasota and will be doing the PR as well as probably a Med boat again.

Super Stock / Cat Outboard is gettin good coverage lately too. This months poer boat has pics of Doug Kelly, Bermuda berry Cuda and Pour It On. Pour It On also had an AWESOME shot in Poker Runs America last month. It's an awesome class and the best bang for your buck. There are used boat out there starting at $60,000.00 you cand spend as little as $2,500 a weekend it's a blast. Several boats for sale several new boats being built and rigged , it's a great class to get into. I know Pour It On is motivated to sell right now.

2000 30ft Canopy Spectre - Pour It On
Complete rebuilt 2.5 L offshore Mercury - 1 hour time
Re-rigged 2005 by Diamond Marine
2x Helmets, Vest, ship to shore radio, 2 Hand held VHF w/ private Band
Aluminum Dual Axle Trailer w/ on board water tank
Boat never damaged!!
2 sets of Props included
$79,000 OBO
Sounds like a deal!!
Who wants to go racing?

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

Marathon was fun great close racing , as it sounds like Ft Myers was as well. Really looking foward to Sarasota, expecting between 10-13 boats for for the Super Stock class. A few surprises will probably show up out of the wood work. AirSpeed Racing / DoublEdge Motorsports will be the with a new 32' Aero Speed Marine(Doug Wright) for S-111 Recycle America Alliance. There are still at least 3 boats for sale for this class , Pour It On, Hulk, and Racing Frenzy. Looking forward to great racing in my home waters.

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

Can anyone tell me if the Racing Frenzy is an AMT or a Spectre hull. The Superboat team information page lists it as a Spectre.

Also who can I contact re the sale of The Hulk?

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

Racing Frenzy is an AMT. Racing Frenzy borrowed a set of props and smoked the field in Marathon. It is seriously fast and immaculately rigged. RF's old hull was a Spectre. Doug Kelly owns the Hulk. If you are serious call me this afternoon and I will give you his number. My number is 800 404 0058 Steve Quick

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

I just got back in front of a computer after the long trip coming home from Marathon. The boat is definitley a AMT and it ran great this weekend! I want to send a special thanks to our team and the 5 B's for all the support this weekend as well as our sponsors Throttle Up, Best Used Trucks, Truck and Equipment, Livorsi and Truckmovers.com without their support we wouldn't have brought home a checkered flag! Thanks guys!

You better buy those props and come play for the season. You and that beautiful AMT are kicking ass. SQ

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

lemme ask you guys your opinion. i'm running a 30 spectre with 300 x's with 20" sportmaster lowers 80% bay use average a 2 ft chop. spinning 15x32 3 blade cleavers to 6400 rpms @wot. looking to increase mid range acceleration. right now at 4500 rpms put me in the low 70's. spend most of my time between 60-90 any suggestions. holeshot is fine and top end is fine. i know i'll probably have to give up a little up top and i'm ok with that. would like something a little smoother and easier on the gearcase as well. prefer a 4 blade of some kind

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

We have been very succesful with 30 4 blades for accelleration and it depends on your motor height as to if you run a 15 inch blade of 14.5. If you drop your motors a bit the 14.5s will spin more RPM. If you are only running in the 90's 28's will give you even more.

Hey Steve you know that the only people to deal with in the offshore racing propellers is Matt and Julie from Throttle Up! They are the best of the best and I will only let them touch my props. They are proven winners!

stevequick 06-17-2005 12:50 PM

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

Bryan,
I need Throttle Up's address, phone, E-mail and any indecent photos of Julie you might have ASAP. We need something special for Sarasota, if you are coming.

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

bryanh, the best i've gotten out of her is 105.5 at 6500 rpms...perfect conditions, 50% fuel etc...its a legit 102 mph boat

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

Where is the RPM limit on your motors?

berns29scarab 06-20-2005 06:36 PM

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

6800 rpms

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

bryanh...what motors and props are you spinning. i've got 20" sporty's unsure of gear ratio's

dreamboater 06-20-2005 07:13 PM

Re: How bout those SS boats ?

your ratio is 1.62. 4 blades will cruise better and provide less vibration. Since you are not worried about 1-2mph top end loss you really should look in to them.

What would be the major benefit of dropping the motors a tad and running 14.5" vs 15" diameter props?? If water pressure is still on the safe side wouldnt the 15" props hook up better providing better slip #'s??
