Re: Favorite class
Favorite class other then Stock class would have to be F1 when everyone was running the carb & efi 500's from Mercury. Another words pre Vortec and 525, which ultimately killed the class to begin with. Once those motor programs came into play it was the begining of the end of that class. Heck that upgrade in HP had F1's out running SVL's that year when they ran in the same races. I remember watching three Merc 525 powered F1's running out in front of the SVL's in Ft Lauderdale one year.

Re: Favorite class
F1
I also loved A class, the only reason A class went away was the advent of "P" class racing and F1. Boats that weren't legal for F1 were forced to race in "P". It was also A class which set the record for the number of entries in a class in the 1994 Key West Worlds, 34. I think the old factory 1 class had it all, alot of boats and competative racing! When APBA raced in Cape Cod three years ago, F1 had 5 lead changes. When was the last time any "modern class" had this many changes for the lead? |
Re: Favorite class
i'm going to leave the politics out of it, any race that has a loaded field, good viewing, and no injuries or damage works for me although now that i own an outboard cat...SS rocks.

Re: Favorite class
Factory Class racing was without a doubt, the best racing in years.
It was this kind of racing that most of us performance boaters could relate to. But with 3 engine choices and the officials trying create some parity, it faded away. The Stock Outboards seem to be pretty exciting based on the previously mentioned reasons. SuperCat and SuperCat Light could be combined into one class. |
