heated debates

With the latest heated debates dying down, do you find yourself visiting the board more or less?

Re: heated debates

I visit less because of all the BS. If everyone put as much effort into the sport as they do their comments then the sport would be an awesome event anywhere.

thanks for your comments and opinion Julie

I visit the same amount, but post less. Even when one has something positive to say, it somehow gets "twisted" out of context. Sometimes its not worth posting, to save one's self from ridicule. As an Offshore Racing fan since the mid 1970's, this forum has been highly benificial to the sport, but at times has also hindered the sport (with all the petty infighting)
A "few" are ruining this forum. :(

No but we are fans , volunteers, and supporters of Offshore racing, with some close ties.

Shane want makes you so holy that everyone should bow down to you???

We also have opinions, and can voice them in a public forum.
so you can either be constructive or destructive.

Well said. Thanks for the support and I hope people like you stick it out. Offshore Racing is a great sport.

Thanks, Ben

Re: heated debates

I enjoy a good debate but the personal attacks really destroy any chance to have a nonconfrontational conversation. Keep is civil and always respect the other persons opinion and beliefs. That's a good starting point.

I find some people usually try to immediatly discredit the author or attempt to bring out "The hidden Agenda" behind the post. Again, a form of personal attack. And I'd just love to see someone explain this new term "smoke and mirrors". What are you reffering to? Who's hidding what?

Shane B,
I don't race often but have raced a few races a year for the past 5 years, mostly OPA and old APBA-Does that count? I believe the question on this thread asked if one visits this forum any more/less?
Once again, a derogatory comment is made by someone, turning this thread into a debate.

Re: heated debates

Shane, come to think of it, we raced in the same race a few years ago-when you flipped your boat in Seaside Heights NJ.
Can you explain what you mean by a "Jersey Thing"?

Re: heated debates

I visit more when the threads are "positive". I visit a lot no matter what is happening.

As for the bashing, remember, the question posted by someone that sounds "fishy" for a first post might be a SPONSOR getting some backgound.

Nice work guys, and THANKS !!!

Oh, and I was a racer but not at the moment. SEE ABOVE !!

I am on here a lot. I just don't post very much anymore

Re: heated debates

I am on here almost everyday. I never post (with few exceptions), mostly because it just gets to nuts when you do. I try to glean info regarding what is really going on, but it is hard to sift through it all. Also, don't race boats, just the Reaper (to all of your benefit), but I do race 4-wheelers, and used to race 4-wheel drive off-road trucks.

Isn't that the magic used to only have a few boats show up at the race site. Always seems like they have a large number showing up but come race day.....
