Re: OSS racers helping out
This is an awesome effort from such a great group of people. The people of Biloxi are very grateful for the kindness of so many. During such a great tragedy the true character of so many is often discovered. I am proud to be apart of such an incredible organization. I only wish all could see personally the devastation of my beautiful city. Only then could you realize the true gratitude for your assistance in such a horrible time in Biloxi's history.

Re: OSS racers helping out
The work being done by the OSS family out there is something very unique and special.
The Page Motorsports rig and trailer is being used as a missing persons headquarters for the Harrison County Coroner/ Sheriff dept. and also supporting countless firefighters there on search and rescue duty. It is an overwhelming sight ... mile after mile after mile of complete devastation and complete need.. These guys keep plugging away and the results are far greater than one could ever imagine. The items being donated by the OSS teams and family are reaching the hands of the survivors who cannot make it to the local area Red Cross or Salvation Army distribution centers. Pockets of survivors are still being found without aid along the route from Biloxi to the western areas of Harrison County . Steve and crew and the Dekalb County Ga. SAR teams are seeing that their immediate needs are met along with the needs of the SAR teams in these areas. Most everything is in short supply from Pensacola west. Items being brought in daily are distributed daily while urgent calls for more are nonstop. I urge anyone that has not had an opportunity to lend support or wishes to further their support to contact OSS and and see what they may need to continue to provide what little comfort they can to an area that is beyond description. I can be reached at 407 468 2279 and can make inquiries also if you wish . I am more than willing to provide pickup and delivery, just call your order into a location along the way and I'll grab it and get in Steve's hands. |

Re: OSS racers helping out
This reaches us from Bob Horn:
"I have been working with Steve Page in the collection of goods and organizing relief for Biloxi. Steve needed to get another semi full of water, food, and other collected items to Biloxi for this week. I called DaimlerChrysler, that I work for, and reqested the use of a semi. They not only are supplying the truck & tractor but they are also supplying the driver and fuel. The truck will be loaded at Page Racing on Monday, September 19, 2005 and will leave for Biloxi and surrounding areas on Tuesday." |

We really didn't do much ...just what we could. But every little bit helps someone .
The 2 that were living under these tarps for the past 3 weeks were just told they cannot stay there any longer , we were dropping off a few supplies to them when the sheriff came by and told them to get out of town to a shelter 5 miles away. To say it was heartbreaking would be an understatement. No house , no car , no income , no where to go .......I have wondered how they are since I left. I am certain this scene is being played out over and over all along the coast. |

Re: OSS racers helping out
I talked to Steve on Thursday while he was in the thick of it. At that time he was personelly bringing basic supplies to some "trapped" fire-fighters in a remote location outside of Waveland which suffered total devastation. He sounded stressed and in all likelihood some what traumatized. I think in helping these victims he has in a way become a victim himself. Prayers for him and if you know him, words of praise and encouragement are good medicine. Keep up the fantastic work bro but take care of your self.

Re: OSS racers helping out
I have just returned from my honeymoon and just want to say thank-you to my OSS family and members of my team and community who have been in Mississippi for the last three weeks with our transporter which is also being used as a trauma center. They have been supporting Christian Life Church from Orange Beach who along with our pastor have been there from the start. The manager of Live Bait cooked for 750 people three times a day.We know what its like dealing with a massive hurricane and Orange Beach is thankful for the opportunity to help our brothers in Mississippi.May God be with them all and those who are about to experience the wrath of Rita.
