Build A Race Boat P-class

For All Of Ya That Don't Know This Past Weekend I Was In Camden Nj At The Race. For Who Ever Wasn't There They Have No Idea What Yall Have Missed. I Have Been To Many Races But For Some Reason This One Was My Favorite. Yeah Don't Get Me Wrong Key West Is More Fun. But Wait Till Next Year These Jersey Boyz Don't Mess Around. My Dream As A Little Kid Was To Race Boats With My Dad. Something Like What Smity And Sticks Has. So This Race Did It For Me I Don;t Know Why But It Did. I Guess Because Of How Well Organized It Was. I Mean Ron P Had Over 3o Safety Boats, That's Unheard Off. So Here The Question. How Much To Build A P4-p3 Boat 28 Foot Single Engine . Like A Pantera , Old 27 Magnum, 28 Apache, 28 Superboat Or Anything Like Those Good Solid Rustin Buckets ?

We Have The Motor ,headers And The Transmission And We Will Do Most Of The Rigging So Don't Count That. So Estimate The Hull , The Drive (bravo 1 Or #3) Steering, Instruments?

areces,

you probably saw us run in P-4. Team BRE the 25 ft Warlock.

led the race off and on until we got tossed in turn one. fortunately only our pride was hurt and the boat didn't even get wet inside.

anyway it is forsale . 2001 custom built warlock w/500hp. all the best racestuff. will be very competitive in p-4 as we won many times in Factory 1 including Great Lakes Championship 2002, 2003, 2004. $45,000. Call me anytime for more info.

Bruce's ride is a Beaut!..if you want no/few hassles, try to find something, like the F1 below, with an HP500..they seem to run 4-ever...

Good Luck...

The best bet is on an old race boat, even if it looks complete and ready to go there will be plenty to do over the winter to get it ready. Good luck on your search!.

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

You could get something like this real reasonable!

1st one is ready to go. They may sell with or without power.
Otherwise, you can Custom order your boat from them.
They also can make adjustments on the length if need be.

Bruce has won a ton of races, the OPA championship and 3rd in the Worlds out of 14 boats. Look no further JR. There isn't a better deal out there.
PS There is a renewed interest in OPA racing , if you snooze, your gonna lose on this boat

You should, I think Jerry from Goumada bought Grumpy old men, he wants to come out and race again.

I may let my cousins race my boat next year

Good prize money, its a no brainer

added bonus Bruce
If we do a few races togetherlike St Clair, it will give you a chance to run the course and get used to it before you head out in the SVL

I can't believe no one has bought your boat yet. I would really like to see her racing again.

WARREN !!!!!! whattup buddy. everything is well. Im practically givin the boat away at that price. If you broke it down and parted it out, you'de have way more than 25k in parts. not to mention labor to rig.

someone needs to jump on this for next year.

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

Bruce, You might as well keep it and run next year. Nobody wants it,their loss.

DavidRaabe 10-13-2005 07:01 PM

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

WOW Bruce, for that price I think its already sold. If nobody jumps on that soon it will be mine.

Just wish I could have really experienced what she could do.

I got some thinking to do.

Ready for OPA next year cant wait, Mike their is an open seat.... :D

DavidRaabe 10-13-2005 09:41 PM

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

Its not so much the money, its the lack of experience, the fact that nobody else as expressed the interest in forming a new P class team, and the fact I dont know **** about race engines.

I'm on my third lawn mower in 3 years because everytime somthing goes wrong I get pissed off, throw it out, and buy a new one.

STUPID but true.

If I could put together 2 more people that are serious about racing, have some experience racing, know a little about race engines, and enough balls to get in a boat with me.

Then lets talk.

But I look forward to meeting you next month in Key West.

Hey David,

Start out with an SOB and you would only need one other guy and not much to work on Outboards! :drink: :drink: :drink:

DavidRaabe 10-13-2005 10:45 PM

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

I gave SOB some thought but ruled it out for a couple of reasons.

1- There performance in Camden was a joke

2- We had a race with no fees and still only 3 boats showed.

3- There's not enough flat water races in the OPA schedule to make it worth while racing

4- If it's anything like some of the south jersey races I've been to, you know the type of crowd it draws. Not the place to bring the wife and kids. (no offense) It's just not my crowd of people.

5- P CLASS RACING IS THE BEST !!!

We went last month and they seemed ok.....

As far as the SOB's performance?

They yellow boat came out to get a feel for it. He had fixed trim on the boat. That explains why he ran a bit nose high a few times. But he still averaged 53.63 mph.
The red boat was hanging real well until his ballast shifted back from the bow.
He averaged 60.65 mph. over the course of the race.
It is usually figured your top speed to be 8 to 10 mph faster than your average. So that puts him right at the 70 mph top speed for the P-5 Class.
They both want to come back next year.
So they are trying to rally more boats.
Let's not forget, they only had two weeks notice if that.
Now we have all winter.
We can only hope for the best!

DavidRaabe 10-13-2005 11:33 PM

Re: Build A Race Boat P-class

I think SOB is cool, It's just not what I'm looking for. I wish only success in forming a solid class.

By the way, your pics and videos of all the races are by far the best around. One can really "live" a race from start to finish with all your great photos.

Thanks

Dave

PS
That last photo of the crowd reminds me of the AARP parade held once a year in Whiting (aka Gods waiting room). Who needs babes in bikini's at the beach watching race when you got that.....

The cool thing to do is turn on TalkOffshore and click on the Camden race. When they start announcing, start clicking through my photos. Next best thing to being there! :drink:
