Default Chattanooga = An Outstanding Weekend!

The title says it all!

We had an absolutely great weekend despite hooking the boat in the 12th lap of the race chasing down Kean U. on turn 3. I'm told we did two 360s...and there's video somewhere that shows it.

The boat display Friday night was awesome! The local folks were so interested in the boats and were truly excited to see us there. We handed out everything we brought for spectators...team profiles and boat photos...the local folks wanted anything they could get their hands on about the race, boats and crews.

The speed runs were just plain fun, especially for us P class guys. It was like playing closest to the pin in golf. Who could go the fastest without breaking out on the flat water. The fastest boats received plaques and proclamations from the mayors of the city and county recording their speeds, plus, the times are going to be recorded in a Congressional record in D.C.

Also, we had an impressive opening ceremony! A military Color Guard, the singing of the National Anthem, our boats drifting just offshore from the ceremony with us all holding American Flags, and the announcement: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

The race course, although short, allowed spectators a constant stream of boats. Yea...13 laps for P class? What a blast! I almost ran out of dash board for lap tape.

The TVA Park was a great site...we didn't have to travel miles to get from the dry pits to the wet pits, everything was right there. Vendors were close by if you wanted something to eat or drink (although the AMF crews kept everyone well fed and watered). We could see the race course from the pits, which allowed us to actually see the second race. And they had an announcer for the play-by-play and a local radio station on site all 3 days of the event.

Guys and gals, 22 boats showed up for this one. If you weren't there, you really missed a great time. Pop and crew really did an outstanding job...the standard has now been set.

Sean

I was not excited about showing up to a so so race, however I left with a great respect for this site, the race, the promotion of this race, and the help and support from the locals. I would go back to this race site anytime - This is a cool place to race - Great job everybody -

Guys the Pirate team had the time of our lives this past weekend. It was really special to us being that the race was our first and being held in our hometown. We are even more fired up than ever about racing even though we blew our engine on Saturday, but hey, that's racing right!!! I Can't begin to tell you how much I owe Bob and Ron of Hometown Morgage for putting me on the sticks Friday and Sunday in the SVL Hometown Morgage boat. Truly an experience with a hell of a driver and a hell of a boat. Anyway we will be back in the spring, you guys aren't getting rid of us that easily!! HAHA, but I just want to thank all of you who showed up to put on such a great show, it still is the talk of the town.

This was a great event and the closest racing I have been in all year with Gallager, the bat boat, and David Bryan Jewelers. I think we all lead at one time or another. Travis, you were on cloud 9 all weekend
What a great site and great people.

PS Travis, how about posting some pics of that beautiful boat

This is exactly what a National series race could do when you race in towns that normally dont have offshore races, Sure it doesnt have Big water, But the fans Appreciate it and they come out to see the races, not just happen to be on the beach and a race is going on. Your sponsors appreciate it, you are taking the product and bringing it to middle america.
Pickwick, Tennesse provided the same type atmosphere.
Congratulations on a sucessful event.

The racing was great. Hats off to the Stars. For me the highlight of the weekend was, Team Scream Machine. I met Jeff 4 years ago in Daytona, racing a little Donzi. He had a million Questions we sat and talked for hours. Never saw him again. We pulled into Chatt. and there sitting in the pit is a boat called Scream Machine. Anthony looks out the window and says uh oh!! I thought this was going to be an easy race. For those of you that were not there it is the old Bankers Fountain. And bad it is. With that Jeff pops out of no where.......I'm Back. Jeff runs the boat with his brother John, and run it they did! Great job guys, but mostly welcome aboard. Just another awsome team. Watch out for these guys. Smitty

One of the best sites I've been to in 13 years of racing. Should make an excellent national event in 2006. The STARS team put on an awesome show and event for everyone. We can't wait to go back next year. Thanks to all the teams that showed up and all the fans that came out to the event.
