supercat lite and supercat are both 66" tunnels... the length would be the main difference besides power...

they all might not be 66"'s, but they can be, so that part would be interchangeable... the only way i would think it would work is if you did the sponson tips like callan and had a set that made it the 38-40' supercat length from the 35-38' supercat length... i wonder if it measured exactly 38'0" if you could run both classes? the rigging and everything else would be unchanged if you did the length changes up front...

drives would be the same (the ratio would be different for supercat, but both use sixes now), the weight would be pretty much the same (depends on how you add the length, but that could be handled with the cg of the engines), most supercat teams are adding over 1000#'s of weight, so i know they could make the weight in supercat lite... could they run competitively? who knows, but it would be an economical way to run both classes... probably best case would be for the bigger boats in supercat lite to run in the smooth water races with the supercats... other than that, i couldn't think of too many advantages.... i wonder if the new 388 skaters and doug wright 38 are designed for this?

yes they are sean...and the gear ratios are 1:1.61 only on both...34" 5blade max props...thought he was talking sc vs px...

9000lbs in SC (OSO) has to be FIXED and remain there for the season...500 could move for a total of 9500...so no a SC could not do a SCL race at 8700 (they use the 3% rule) if they wanted to continue running SC for the remainder of the year.

I would like to see some real offshore racing implemented into the seasons to see which boat is really superior. Racing on lakes, rivers or flat ocean(natures fault) is not the way to decide a superior hull design. Throw a few 3-4footer's into the mix and then you can see what the overall best hull really is.

I think if someone actually builds the new Aerospeed Marine by Doug Wright that will throw a wrench into things. I really feel that his designs could be a superior combination for sure. With that being said Best Wishes to all racers and there Hull designers in the 2006 season.
