Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

Factory 1 boats depending on what motor they have in them are either P5 or P4. Most are P4. Having F1 boats in P5 defeats the entry level factor of P5 thus defeating the purpose for P5. I have had talks with people from OPA and the way they are planning to do it is fair. While the P class format has many week links to the format OPA is going to try to do there best to make it Tight Fair racing in 2006.

Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

I agree Dennis, get the F1 Boats and the High Powered 27 and 28's out of P5, this would allow the Sob's to run P5, Then get the twin engines out of P4 not only to make it fair but safe, I have seen several boats with 1200hp or more plan to race P4, Several Racers have expressed concerns of racing boats twice the size and twice the Horsepower in the same class, it makes no since what so ever. I also agree, we could purchase 2 GPS units and be sealed like the APBA was doing, that system seem to work.

Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

Former and current F1 boats all raced P4 last year with OPA. Even low horse power 425 engine boats :D

I don't think were a problem.

Fountain F1's are 81-82 mile an hour boats without dial in. P4 for sure.

5th Place.

These are the unofficial times I came up with from my photos:
The boat was very consistant as you can see...
Once they got into the groove of the course and then the boat lightened up as it burned off fuel and it got a bit rougher placing air under the hull. They started 8th and on the outside...

1st lap took 4:30

2nd lap took 4:28

3rd lap took 4:16

4th lap took 3:56

5th lap took 4:08

6th lap took 4:12

7th lap took 4:02

Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

The F1 that ran in p5 was propped down, i gave him a smaller prop and it was drove and throttled bye one person who hasnt raced in a couple of years, jim owner of extras racing, bought the boat and threw his son and mechanic in the boat for more boat count and he wasnt in it for the money cause jim was the first to stop with his boat when the new yorkers got thrown from there boat.

Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

Sounds like Smitty and Anthony placed them in the right Class that day considering crew. I didn't hear any objections at the race....

Just good racing :D

Re: P-Class Breakout Changes

I think that if propped correctly the fountain is a good P5 boat which really is 27 not 29 and yes it is efficient hull so let us be the first tested. Not that we won't race in P4 it just won't be that boat. I will bring the 8000 plus pound Fastech :D

Chris thanks for the Prop in Camden! Looked like you were out dredging the streets in Camden with that baby all night :D :drink:

I will not be the odd vote in the outcome of it all I will go along with what our group decides. Years past were not exactly all fair on the field but no complaint from me just happy to race! It takes time to get it right and no doubt we are heading north on the issues!
