The Honda Four Stroke Series has grown to about 40 boats in two classes since its inception a few years ago...and they anticipate even bigger fleets in 2006!Sure looks like fun.

Re: SOB class.
Run an Ocke Mannerfelt B23 with a stock 2.5 and you'll run 103 in the light chop and 85-88 in 3 footers all day long. Trust me, this boat will smoke, and I mean lap, any single engine Progression, Activator, Velocity or Superboat you send it's way with ease, while having a conversation with your co-pilot about the after party. 28 Skaters can't catch this boat in 3 footers.

Herb crossed the Starting Line 6 seconds before Grumpy Old Men, therefore leading them by 6 seconds while holding second place in the class. 1 lap down, Grumpy is right next to Intimidator making up the 6 seconds. 2nd lap Grumpy pulled 14 seconds over Intimidator 3rd lap Grumpy pulled 2 seconds more making it a 16 second lead over him 4th lap Grumpy doubled it to a 32 second lead over them. 5th lap Intimidator gave up 4 more seconds 6th & 7th laps Intimidator throttled back, trailing by 1 minute & 6 seconds to Grumpy. Some would say the numbers may not be accurate, but from what I can tell even after Intimidator pulling back on the throttles for the last 2 laps his total time was 31 minutes 16 seconds to complete 31.5 miles. Grumpy 28 minutes 34 seconds. Intimidator's average speed was right where it needed to be in order to be competitive in P-5. The other 21 SOB with less power followed with what was to be expected, about a 10 mph less than the other boats. No one expected him to be in front, but Herb held is own for as long as he thought he needed and by watching his GPS unit, he was on the edge of breaking out, which was one thing he did not want to do as he did in Cambridge. |
