Cape Cod; I didn't race the Miami one. However when you crest a wave and look to your starboard and about 1/2 mile away you see Miss Budwiser about 20 feet in the air with her bow shooting straight for the clouds, you realize quickly, today is more about survival than competition.

Yeah - it was pretty unbelievable to me that we were out there racing at all. We finally had an engine hydraulic after stuffing several times. I still have the cockpit video from that race. It was crazy!

I think even the super cats had speeds in the 60's, and they had the storm course.

I don't Rember him turning around, and I was there, but he was running a 32' CAT with in OPEN class back then. "THE LEGEND" Errol Lainer was leading for along time in that race. Sloopy Joes flipped, It was HUGE!!!!!

CAPE COD!!! I chipped a tooth and I was covered in sand by the end of the race, even though we were in a Phantom under canopy. We stuffed so many times and the water was so churned up with sand it "dripped" in to the cockpit. I was driving for Bill Park. I miss that guy!!! :D

Ben

PS: And we won SVL... :evilb:

Point Pleasant was the roughest race I was ever in period. You want BIG, come to Jersey. I do have to say the first time I ever met Ben Hedrick, I test drove a bat boat with Him in Key West the year we all were evacuated for the Hurricane. Remember how big that was Ben?????? I think the Coast Guard got a tip that there was a bat boat heading for Cuba that day. THAT WAS FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drink: :drink:

The plumber was one of the ones that turned around.

2nd place was atlantic city I think in 93 still have a poker chip from caesars.
