Super Duper Saturday
For those unfortunate enough not to make the Superbowl in Miami, or the boat race, here are some pics!
the weather was nice seas bumpy Prior to the start fans saw a few poker run boats make some passes, including Lubejobs (AKA Gino) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...rbowlstart.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...Superbowl2.jpg |
Re: Super Duper Saturday
Pollo Tropical a south Florida Favorite had a great start but broke after a couple of laps. looked great running though.

Re: Super Duper Saturday
Passing the pace boat prior to the start is usually a penalty, but when running un-opposed i guess it doesnt matter.

Re: Super Duper Saturday
It was a great time. We were on the beach with the NFL cheerleaders competeing in a tug-o-war on one side and the boats racing on the other. I would have been in Heaven had the cheerleaders been the Playmates vs. Girls gone Wild......:drink:

Re: Super Duper Saturday
The two Stock Outboard boats ran together, until lap 6 or so when DeepVee Cats hooked right in front of Miccosukee in turn 3, Miccosukee went over the top of them, lucky no one was hurt!

Lucas Oil didnt fare so well at the start, with motor problems, they didnt finish a lap. and to add further injury to insult, they ran aground.

Re: Super Duper Saturday
Pete,
Why did you go to the race? So you could come on here and rag on SBI/APBA? What it as perfect as your OSS races? For someone who says that AMF walks on water why dont you follow his lead and do and act as to benefit our sport. I wont make excuses for anything that didnt go according to plan. We had a great time and I am so sorry that I couldnt get my boat back together in time so your hero could have some competition. I sincerly apologize that this race did not live up to your standards. I invite you to put on a race in either Ft Myers and/or Atlanta and put together something half as nice as what transpired this weekend. It will then give us the oportunity to come and announce to the world how lousy it was. Best to you and I wish you the best with your glass house! Trent |
Re: Super Duper Saturday
I invite you to put on a race in either Ft Myers and/or Atlanta As far as benefiting the sport, I am just posting pics, for the less fortunate boat racing fans that couldnt make it to south Florida. If I was really trying to bash it, I wouldnt have bothered to post any pics! I sincerly apologize that this race did not live up to your standards To me every race should be like a Key West Race where the best of the best meet up, this is supposed to be a Professional sport, what if only 10 cars showed up for the Daytona 500, what if only 10 of the colts showed up tomorrow for the superbowl. Having 15 races where 25 or less boats numerous classes show isnt good for the sport, it makes a mockery of those that are truly trying to accel the sport. Keep in mind you are in that glass house as well, that glass house being offshore, its fragile enough as it is. sugar coating will not fix it. On a more positive note, I would love to see Predator square off with the On the Chip guys! |
Re: Super Duper Saturday
As an avid Offshore racing fan I just wanted to add my $.01 worth regarding the sport off Offshore Racing. While the AMF team does a fantastic job in promoting and supporting the sport it appears that there is too much clashing of the different sanctions for the fans to truly enjoy offshore racing. The Production and Manufacturers classes had a tremendous turnout in Hollywood, but the 'Big Boys' showing left something to be desired.
I know I'm going to get SLAMMED for this input, but this happens at the majority of the races. Why can't all the sactioning bodies work together instead of the obvious power struggles that are ripping the sport apart. I would bet the fan base and attendance at the races would double or triple if all of the sanctions would work in harmony! |
Re: Super Duper Saturday
I would hardly say that pete is bashing sbi.......he gave it the most "Press" on OSO.................
|
Re: Super Duper Saturday
trent, as i see it, at least pete attended a sbi race and is giving photo ops to those racers.. trent-when was the last oss race you attended? there was alot of hyperbole prior to the race, and the overall boat count again was poor. look at the post on the sbi section of oso and if it weren't for the p classes, there would have been hardly anything on the water. if exposure to the whole world was on objective as stated many times during the offseason, then the numbers did not live up to all the pre-race propaganda. your attitude exempifies many of sbi'ers towards oss. you and others try to make fun of oss racesites and racers, but do you come to participate or watch? i cannot recite numbers, but i do believe that oss averaged more boats in fewer classes in 2006 than sbi which in my book allows for better competition. About the only person that backs up what he preaches is John Haggin and he is from what i see, about the only person that could unify the two series. He right now is the best thing since sliced bread for offshore racing. personally i could care less about oss vs. sbi, i just want to see RACING. But to have a race you need competitors. i can say i honestly didnt go because i did not want to watch a parade of multiple classes and few same class competitors. i do want to say, sbi did manage a great coup trying to do this in conjunction with the superbowl which i am sure was a very difficult task. good job in that department.

Congrats To Everyone Who Attended And Raced. Keep Up The Work. Lets Get This Unified Soon

Re: Super Duper Saturday
Pete thanks for the pictures, we enjoyed the races, not enough boats but the boats that came were all first class
|
Re: Super Duper Saturday
Thanks for the pics Pete !
I was one of the less fortunate ones that was unable to attend do to previous commitments with the NJPPC in Altantic City. The P5 Class looked like it was the one to watch ! Hats off to all that helped bring this race together on such an already busy weekend... |
Re: Super Duper Saturday
What happened to the boat count? I thought it was all "book up" according to the original OSO posts and invitation?
|
Re: Super Duper Saturday
My guess is when they found out the price of rooms it became a no go.
|
Re: Super Duper Saturday
I would say they did a pretty good job considering it's right in the middle of the silly season. Good job!

Re: Super Duper Saturday
What most did not know the Dry pits where only 3.5 miles from where they played the game

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...Lucasstart.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...454/Lucas2.jpg Thanks for mentioning all the hard work put forth by the crew to get this boat back in one peice after the Key West Crash (Thanks to all that helped along the way). When a team is doing final assymbly in the pits the night before the race to get one quick test in on the morning of the race (which went very well), there are bound to be problems. All we wanted to do was get out there and race. Yes, we had engine problems, on the way out to the race a brand new impeller, installed by Innovation, decides to shoot craps. Things like this happen to every team in offshore racing, it just decided to happen to us that weekend. I think the only "INSULT" that came from that day is the lovely post you have here, and to add "INJURY" to that would be a crapy thing to do. Thanks for posting the pics, but the quotes may not always be appercited. Jeff Kinney D&M Motorsports / Lucas Oil |
It doesn't bother me near as much as it may seem, but some people need to learn to relax a little and enjoy life.
Life's to short to be pissed off all the time, enjoy it while you can. |
Jeff
All of Pete's post here are just angry and pointless. I would ignore him as most of us do. Steve[/QUOTE LMAO My Posts are as pointless as, Racing in a class with no competition!!! |
Steve,
Your opinion and personal attacks mean NOTHING to me, just the same your countless wins whether racing yourself, Or having been able to AFFORD to win, really means nothing to me. I have seen Offshore from many different views and it is people like yourself ," who think you are gods gift to offshore" that has destroyed Offshore!!!! And that is one of the many reason's you race yourself! |

Come on guys Valetines day is just around the corner. Pete thanx for the pictures I like nothing more then seeing my friends and racers blasting through the water. Unfortunatly we couldn't attend since our boat is being repaired from last seasons races. It was a bold move putting a race on during super bowl weekend and from that point of view I think it was a great event. A lot of boats are in the same condition as ours after racing, so the boat count would naturally be light, but there still was a race and people including us are talking about it. That is good for offshore racing. Smack talkin and shootin B.S. is part of the sport , poking at someones misfortune or putting a negative spin on everything isn't. Looking foward to a great year of racing!!

Tell us how you really feel Steve!:D
Dont sweat him, you did more for offshore this morning when you tied your shoes, than he ever has or will do for offshore. I will defend Pete on the fact that he is not using the classes or rules you created, he is a cheerleader(AKA non-racer) I will say he has some big canoles behind a computer screen after he went into the SBI/APBA forum and starting a bashing rant on the race, then comes over here and posts pictures trying to be everyone's hero. I kinda wish the moderator would have left his bashing up so everyone that was in travel when he posted them could have seen his true colors. Trent |

You are still a tool Pete, a poser tool. If you feel strongly get in a boat and race me, or just be satisfied being a cheerleader. Either way I would think it is about time to either help boat racing or simply stop the negative attacks. Steve The only attacks i see in this thread are you attacking me, my pictures and opinions are expressed by me. In all those pics I didnt make attacks, I simply posted pics because the TV coverage was out of this world, I told it like it is! And I am certainly entitled to express my opinion, I live in AMERICA! Your name calling is really lame, but I can certainly understand where you get that from. |

Damn now everyone knows, Its a good thing that you are so Great. With all your TV coverage, the millions in sponsor money. I am surprized you have time for this board, I figured you would be jetstting off to some foreign land establishing your greatness there! Sorry Trent there was no bashing only a honest perspective of what I SAW!! Sorry If you cant handle the truth, once you start believeing the truth it will set you free. Until then better start getting your boat ready for the Next BIG SHOW!! |
I wounldnt say stealing is OK, but the use of the English Dictoinary is free to all.
It personally makes no difference to me who wrote the rule book, but do you really need rules, when there is only one boat in the class?? And as author of said rules wouldnt it be a conflict of intrest to write them and then race?
As OSS has finally learned he was not making money.
OSS in not for profit! so why would that matter?? And As far as that goes why even mention OSS in this thread , it is about me Bashing and being angry remember, I dont agree with all they do either! Once again MY choice. Maybe you dont understand I havent attacked you, or any organization, I have simply posted pics, a brief narrative which is MY opinion of what I saw. You dont have to like it, Thats your choice. |
Steve,
call a Orange a Orange, There was nothing derogatory in any of the statements I made reguarding the race! YOU were the one that started with your name calling, and if thats how you address fans that have different opinions that yours so be it, I can assure you I havent lost any sleep over your opinion of me! As for race if you perfer to race by yourself once again it is YOUR choice. But for the good of the sport, and what the fans see, If a class only has one particpant, he should be moved to a P-class that fits the boat. this would not only enhance said class but provide more deck to deck racing.
Concerning Gary and I running unopposed in events. I would rather race and race hard. In Key West we entered P3 when we were approved for P4. In the Super Bowl event as you saw we ran hard did some on course testing and shut it down. We are not reveling in our unopposed wins just simply preparing to race when some boats choose to race with SBI/APBA.
Well lets just say hypotheically no one come 's to race SBI SVL?? for the betterment of the sport and to have competition in that class will you race a OSS race?? They had 10 boats at some race s last year 10 boats in one class sounds like some good competition there! The only time I enjoy one boat racing itself is if watching sprint boats and there is more than one in a class, two boats battling well thats drag racing and for those that have never seen a Top fuel Hydro run a quarter mile in under 5 seconds you need to expierence it, cause pics dont do it justice. As for Offshore whatever the sactioning body is, they need to quit diluting the classes by adding more classes, if said class cannot field more than 3 boats, if p-class is not a option then the class needs to go AWAY! As a Fan I spend MY hard earn cash at whatever events I attend, I support the T-shirt vendor, the beer vendor, the hotels, the area resturants. this is what the town looks for, a IMPACT from consumer.
Pete you are a serial OSS cheerleader. You attacked this event and some of the participant’s. Man up have the conviction to say what you believe in or knock it off.
Once again the senseless sophmoric name calling, a man of your said intregity can do much better than that, Address it for what it is, some teams didnt show because there was only room for the first 60 teams, and slots were filling up fast. 30 boats made role call" and more on the way" I know these arent youre quotes, but lets stop kidding or lying which ever it is. I did NOT ATTACK the event or the Partcipant's, Again I JUSTTOLD THE TRUTH! you seem to hold so much power to change things then you should. There are other forums other than OSO, check them out see what the fans say there. They maybe part of the evil empire as well, Right? |
Pete,
After several e-mails and PM's from other racers including the very same that you throw your pom poms in the air for, I have been asked to "stop and not to stoop to his level". The respect of my fellow racers means much more to me than some sniveling joke that is even alienating the organization that he professes that they walk on water. Keep in mind that all organizations have huge issues and obstacles to overcome. I wish you the best and only the safest whereever you decide to race(oops I mean cheerlead) this year. With all of my multi-million dollar sponsors and my jet set lifestyle, I can not maintain this battle of cheap shots that you have taken at racing in general. When you wake up and realize that if you target one organization, you are taking all organizations down. We are racers first, then we decide what is best for our team and what flag we will race under, but at the end of the day, the mutual thread we all have is that we are racers and only want the best for our sport. You never being a racer, would never get a full understanding of that. I must bid adue and declare you the winner, but more importantly my hero! Trent |
Steve... I cannot quite understand the attacks from you. Pete attended the race, took pictures, posted them, reported on the race (positive and negative) and then was attacked for doing so? It seems a little over sensitive....I just dont get it.
I mean he could have stayed home, not heard the race, not viewed the race, made fun of SBI because 24 boats made the start in 16 different classes, snickered on the computer about the "next big thing", *****ed and moaned about offshore racing and laughed about the entire situation with the rest of us.......BUT he didnt.... he attended the race, took pictures and reported on what (in his perspective) happened. We all know that Pete is a OSS supporter....but how can you bash a guy who just spent money to come see YOU race? I guess he can't have an opinion unless it is completely 100% in support for SBI. |
