Stowaway on a Raceboat?
Interesting.............
Dead stowaway found on powerboat
The stowaways are believed to have been on board for two days
One man has been found dead and another three are in hospital after hiding on board a Formula 1 powerboat being transported from Greece to Devon.
They were discovered at a pay toll in France when noises were heard inside a compartment on the Negotiator boat.
French police are questioning three men who were driving lorries carrying the boat and equipment.
The boat's owner, Chris Parsonage of Plymouth, said there was "no way" his team would smuggle anyone on board.
The Chris Parsonage Racing Team was returning from competing in the World Powerboat Association Class 1 Championships in Athens.
Chris Parsonage has been racing powerboats since 2004
The £1.5m boat had been transported by ship to Italy and driven to France, where it was stopped at a toll on the A43 near Chambery.
The police were reported as saying the stowaways had been on board for about two days, in a confined space and without much ventilation.
Officers said they could have been part of organised trafficking or isolated cases.
Mr Parsonage, who is in Plymouth after taking part in the race, told BBC News: "My boys are 100% professional in what they do. There is no way they would smuggle people into the country.
"The boat is checked and is supposed to be checked when it leaves the ship, as they go through each country. They wouldn't even contemplate it."
Last year the 49-year-old and a fellow driver escaped uninjured after another of their powerboats rolled over in a 135mph (217km/h) crash in the British Grand Prix.
The Plymouth-based property developer has been racing powerboats since 2004.
Negotiator is a 44ft (13.4m) long catamaran made of carbon fibre with two Lamborghini engines, each as powerful as a Formula One car and reaches a top speed of 160mph (257km/h).
