Ah Detroit, where else in the world has a boat race course with a debris fence in front of the grandstand.
Theres nothing like being on the Roostertail corner in Detroit MI for Hydroplanes.
I cant wait to see the Pro Series guys hit that corner

As neat as the Unlimiteds are;the Grand Nationals and 5 Litres are even cooler in my opinion. The Unlimiteds are the show ..but the best racing is in the 5 Litre Class. The 5 Litre Class is plenty fast enough and has many quality teams(20 or more at the biggest races).Teams will have to qualify for the final by racing through heat races. The racing is very competitive and intense...the first turn of thier races is wild with five or six boats hitting the corner at once often making contact with each other. This class is to the inboards what Cat Lite is to offshore.Wish I was going, have a great time.

There is a very cool race in Waterford MI just outside Pontiac MI called Quake On The Lake, all inboard piston hydros from 1.5 liter all the way up to 5.0 & Grand Nationals and Grand Prix's
90 or so boats turn out each year and its a world record setting coruse at the Pontiac lake receation area. nice long beach for viewing and a great time its usually the week after the Gold Cup in Detroit July 21st & 22nd.
If your sticking around in MI after Detroit for St Clair make a point to get out and see it. It really is a good time. It works out great Detroit, Pontiac, St. Clair all back to back 3 great weeks of boat racing in a row.
