>> September 15th. The 2008 Round-Britain race teams have voted unanimously to increase entry fees from £5 to £10 per engine horsepower in order to cover a shortfall in funds. Event director Mike Lloyd said, "What a fantastic day, 97% of the drivers agreed to increase their entrance fees to the point that the event will be funded. The 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race is now underpinned financially and is officially ON!"
He continued, "What a great race this will be with so many race teams passionate about the race and wanting to take part even if there is no prize money."
"It's an honour for me to lead these teams because their dream of taking part in this huge endurance race is for real and their financial and physical commitment is also very real and cannot be measured. I envy them their great adventure!"
