Tough call, on some pleasure boats maybe nothing. I'm interested to see the variety of answers on this one. How much does it speed up low on fuel. That is probably your best test every 14 or 15 gallons is a 100 lbs approx.

That boat weighs more then 4300 lbs. On a straight V single a 100 lbs is around 1 MPH. Mike Carter had a boat like yours we made some simple changes it liked.
Look at the tabs see if they are dragging engine needs more air Hook is large Steve |
Steve is suggesting other ways to find speed. Do you recognize the terms he used?

What type of trim tabs do you have? Some brands can be installed in such a way that the drag in the water. He found with his buddies boat the engines liked more air available in engine compartment. Hook refers to the contour of the bottom. A hook helps it ride nice but reduces speed. MPH doesn't often come easy in boats, the things Steve mentioned are generally the easiest path to search. Its good info being he knows the boat.

Don- that sounds like a good excuse for a boat ride. Do the test. I'm not familiar with your exact boat to know. Some boats are more weight sensitive than others. To answer "If you can expect 6mph or more" I would say no, Maybe a couple. There are countless variables involved with weight and speed in boats. Taking weight from the bow will have a greater effect then else where. Good luck.
