In a perfect world Huh,

Some one would discover the money tree, and it replenished money immediately after being plucked, Skaters, MTI, Mystics cost less than a Hering Prop, Hering props cost less than a tank of fuel, and well fuel was as cheap and abundant as the water the boats race in.

There is your perfect world, now time for reality. Racing isnt cheap by any stretch of the imagination, many sacrafice other pleasure's so they can race. And the reality is everyone has a passion, but not the same idea on how to get there, many want to take the hard road, some the path of least resistance, and some choose to seek their own agenda.
Funny thing is one day all these stories will make a good book.

One cat class 850/750, with good tech before and after
One Cat Ob Class
One Single Engine Vee
And one single Vee ob class that has a budget cap.

Cant wait to see how 2009 pans out, see ya KW.

Your right but they have their own agenda's as well, they see value in the equipment, and of course want to be king of the run!!!

i have worked very hard in 20 years of professional racing to attract sponsors. from riding a bicycle to racing a bat boat w/my wife,,,we have had sponsors right there for us.

if i can get paid to ride a frig'n bicycle, there sure as $hit money out there for racing a boat!

Live timing and scoring should also be on the list. There is no reason that we don't know finishing order and speeds as soon as its over. It would be a huge bonus for the teams as well who could follow live during the race, giving accurate info to their teams. Imgaine watching running order and speeds on laptops or pda's during the race.

still waiting for results from panama city nearly a week later to be posted on the website. that just shouldn't happen with todays technology.

Maybe another way to keep races interesting is shorten the length so the boats dont have time to break away from each other. Than run a 2 race format like OSS (I think it was OSS) did this summer with the SVL.

The technology exists. It’s in our boat as well as the other turbines that Turbine Marine rigs. The real time data comes back to the truck to be viewed and recorded (later analyzed). We also correlate it with video data as well. They know where we are exactly and what is going on with the boat. Even, if we take a turn a bit too wide because I came in too hot. The only thing we have to do is press a button to set start/finish one time. The cost of systems like this one are coming down.

The AMA started using live timing on the bikes back in 2000 I think and now some local Michigan tracks are using them. They must be pretty durable to withstand water, mud, dirt and the shock of Motocross and cant cost that much if local race promoters and buying them.

I can send out a couple e-mails to the local tracks and see if we could get a quick price if you like.

telemetry/data logging is way different than a gps puck for timing and scoring ( i agree that every org should have live timing and scoring as well, but the racepak logs up to 71 parameters with the capabilitiy to transmit them back to a base station)

the great thing about the racepaks is that on top of all the info you gain, you also get a lap counter that won't forgot to pull a tape or pull too many...
